JONESBORO — Khoa Vuong is Morrow’s new Post 4 councilman.

Morrow Mayor-elect John Lampl and Vuong were among those present at the Clayton County Board of Elections and Registration special called meeting Dec. 6.

Vuong beat incumbent Larry Ferguson 302-301, based on three absentee ballots, said Elections Supervisor Shauna Dozier. Eight provisional ballots were thrown out.

Both left as soon as the results were certified.

In a Facebook post, Lampl said, “It was very close and both parties ran a good campaign. Morrow would be well served to keep Larry involved in our city. Khoa brings a fresh perspective and will add insight to the City Council.” Referring to a photo he took of Ferguson and Vuong shaking hands, Lampl wrote, “I took this picture the night before the runoff election. Neither knew the outcome, but the respect for each other’s hard work and dedication to this city is real.”

Vuong posted, “Morrow, we did it. Thank you for your love and support! Looking forward to serve our great city. Thanks again to our team, we did it. Good job!”
